Jen Grove is a mixed media artist based in Pensacola Beach. Inspired by a lifetime spent near the water—from her childhood on the coast of Maine to more than 30 years along Florida’s Gulf Coast—her work captures the peace, beauty, and restorative spirit of the shoreline. Jen began painting and creating handcrafted jewelry over 15 years ago while raising four sons and building a corporate career. Following her recent retirement, she now devotes herself full-time to her creative practice. Working primarily in encaustic, Jen builds base texture with plaster, then fuses layers of liquified beeswax, damar resin and oil pigment to create depth, translucency, and a sense of luminosity that echoes the ethereal beauty of the coast.

Though Jen begins each painting with a vision in mind, the true essence of the piece reveals itself over time. The process itself is both tactile and intuitive—each layer is fused with a heat gun or blow torch, scraped back, and reworked, allowing history to remain visible beneath the surface. This practice of allowing the painting to evolve has become a reflection of something larger: a willingness to release expectations, trust the process, and enjoy the journey. Jen also designs handcrafted jewelry featuring natural gemstones, recycled glass, bone, and wood beads in soft coastal hues inspired by sea, sand, and sky. Whether through a painting or a piece of jewelry, Jen hopes each piece brings a bit of the coast into our everyday lives to evoke the calm we feel when we are at the sea. From her home studio, Jen creates original artwork, fine art prints, and jewelry, exhibiting throughout the Gulf Coast and collaborating with collectors on custom commissions
