WANDA DYE
DYE-PROJECTS was founded by Wanda W Dye as an archive of her academic, curatorial and creative practices. Wanda is an award-winning Architectural educator and has worked in academia, art, and architecture for over 25 years and was the founding director of RE gallery in Dallas, Texas for over 5 years.
Before academia and the gallery, she was an architectural designer at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and Smith-Miller + Hawkinson in New York from 1994-1999. From 2010-2016 she founded and directed RE gallery + studio in Dallas Texas, a small art and design exhibition space/practice. RE was featured in ARTSY, ARTS+CULTURE Texas, Dallas Modern Luxury, Purple Fashion, Dallas Morning News, D Magazine, Dallas Observer, Juxtapoz and other online publications and was visited by artists, designers, curators, and patrons from all over the world.
Through founding RE gallery, she curated over 40 shows and gave many emerging artists their first solo shows. Through her RE studio practice, her temporary video/light/sculpture public art installations, were shown at Make Art with Purpose Festival, AURORA, and Cedars Open Studios. Her teaching and research have been published in numerous proceedings, presented and exhibited at international conferences/festivals.
She served as Editor and Co-Designer for UT Arlington publications TEX FILES and ACSA'S CHANG[E]ING IDENTITIES: design, culture, technology. She has served on the Auburn University CADC Dean's Council and served on the Pat Dye Crooked Oaks Legacy Foundation Board. She was Co-Director and Principal Investigator at Community Design Centers at Mississippi State University and UT Arlington.
Her philanthropic work includes participating in TWO X TWO Dallas for AIDS and Art, Dallas Children's Advocacy Center, Nasher Sculpture Center Fundraiser, and CASA through RE gallery artist donations. Architectural Educator Awards include: a national AIA Education Honors Award, two national ACSA Awards for Service and Creative Achievement, and a Graduate Teaching Scholarship Award from Columbia University. Design Awards include the Alabama Power Design Award and Travel Fellowship while at Auburn and the Lucille Smyser Lowenfish Memorial Prize while at Columbia.
