Capri’s artwork is inspired by her faith in God, the people in her life and the beauty surrounding all of us. Integrating these themes and imprints into her artwork develop sensitivity and acuity in each piece of work.
Rug hooking is the art of pulling loops of fabric or fibers through a woven backing with a traditional hook to develop a design and create the desired effects. Traditionally, rugs have been made. Today hand hooked rugs serve functional and non-functional uses as artwork, rugs, pillows, table runners, chair pads, totes, etc. Wool for the pile and linen for the woven backing are preferred to create durable products. Other fibers may be selected for non-functional artwork. The dyes she uses for the wool are developed specifically for protein fibers. The wool is cut into strips resembling any variety width of pasta. Then pulling loops through the woven backing with a hook to create the de-sired pile and design. The design and color possibilities are unlimited.
