Virtual Exhibit

While we are all doing our part and staying home, we know people need art & creativity more than ever.

“This is precisely the time when artists go to work. There is no time for despair. No place for self-pity. No need for silence. No room for fear. We speak, we write, we do language. That is how civilizations heal.” ~ Toni Morrison

In an effort to continue to foster creativity and opportunities to connect and engage, the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County (CAA) recently issued a call to visual artists in any discipline to submit a maximum of two pieces to be considered for a virtual art exhibition, “From a Distance,” featuring work created by artists while “sheltering in place” because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Artists were asked to submit work created since stay at home orders were issued and to share works that represent their unique perspectives.

The ‘From A Distance’ virtual exhibition will be on display beginning May 8, 2020. Cash awards will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Many of the pieces are for sale with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the CAA’s Emergency Relief Fund for Artists.

Select pieces from the exhibit are viewable as part of The Sidewalk Gallery at Watersound Origins. This This is a self-guided activity that is FREE and open to the public from sunrise to sunset 7 days a week from August 8 to October 12, 2020.
