Jenna Varney

Jenna Varney was born on Long Island, NY in 1981. Her artistic talent was noticed early on and she was invited to study with local Watercolor Artist Mary Reay. As a high school student Jenna apprenticed for Modern Contemporary Artist Malcolm Morley. She attended SUNY Farmingdale from 1999 to 2002 and earned a bachelor's degree with honors. While at college she also met her husband Matt, who is a pilot in the United States Air Force. Since their marriage, Jenna has traveled the world and cataloged the experiences on canvas. They are now settled in Freeport, Florida.
Her childhood memories of life on the Great South Bay, Long Island, NY resonated in her choice of subject matter. Zooming in on the smaller things of everyday coastal life, her style amplifies the natural beauty of each study, going beyond the sense of sight and the power of the lens.
Jenna is an award winning local artist and is this years “Visit South Walton 2019 Artist of the Year”. She was also the featured artist for the 30th Annual ArtsQuest Festival and was named the “Best Acrylic Paint Artist” by Visit South Walton in 2018. Jenna was recognized for simultaneously winning “Best in Show” and the “People's Choice Award” in the 2017 Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County (CAA) Annual Member Juried Show.
Jenna's work is displayed in many of the businesses located on NW Florida's Scenic Route 30A. Most recently, she was commissioned to do the Mural for First Watch in Destin. Other works include the 30th Annual ArtsQuest Festival Poster, The Rosemary Beach Farmers Market Poster as well as the artwork for the Annual Rosemary Beach Trading Company's July 4th, 2013 T-shirt. You can also see her “Pink Octopus” mural at the Lilly Pulitzer Store in Watercolor, FL.
