Digital Graffiti Tickets Now on Sale for June 8-9th at Alys Beach

Tickets are now on sale for the Fifth Annual Digital Graffiti Festival to be held on June 8 -9th, 2012 in Alys Beach. This event will sell out so advance purchase of tickets is strongly recommended.  Visit www.digitalgraffiti.com to purchase online or visit Fonville Press in Alys Beach.

Adult tickets are $30 for Friday night and $50 for Saturday night. Children’s tickets (12 and under) may be purchased for $10 for each night.

Digital Graffiti Festival expands this year to include an additional evening featuring a “Gallery Stroll” on Friday night where artists are available to discuss their work with attendees in a salon-style setting. Various art workshops, hosted by Alys Beach in conjunction with the Cultural Arts Alliance, are available to attend during the festival weekend.

On Saturday, end the night with a poolside party at the architecturally acclaimed Caliza Pool.

Prior to the event, guests are encouraged to attend VIE Magazine’s “Meet Me at The Red Carpet” at Fonville Press from 6 p.m. to 8:30 pm when the gates open. Wine, beer, champagne and tapas will be available for purchase.  This pre-party sponsored by VIE Magazine will offer guests the opportunity to enjoy cocktails and have their picture taken to be published in VIE Magazine and online at VIEzine.com.

The annual festival allows digital artists to explore how their fluid forms intersect with technology and wrap the architecture of Alys Beach to create entirely new art forms. Once darkness falls on the weekend, the town will be set aglow as artists compete for over $10,000 of combined prize money. Works will be judged in five categories including Best of Show; Curator’s Choice; Most Innovative/Experimental; Best of Florida; and Best Animated.  The deadline for artist entries is April 2.

“Digital Graffiti, over a short period of time, has become irrevocably linked to Alys Beach,” says Town Architect Marieanne Khoury-Vogt.  “Watching our beautiful, stark, white washed walls and roofs become completely transformed by the colorful and evocative swirling pieces of digital art is truly an inspiring experience. The projected vivid images that mold and melt against the backdrop of our sculptural architecture are fascinating to observe. One can meander through the paths and parks of our town and contemplate all of the different pieces of digital graffiti, at times set to music, and at times powerfully silent.”

Florida Travel and Life lists Digital Graffiti Festival in their January/February 2012 issue as one of the must-not miss "Amazing Weekends" for 2012.
